Stopping Child Exploitation through Education & Livelihood (SCEEL)
Co-implemented with Platform for Labour Action (PLA) and SOMERO who are focused in Kampala, Bugiri & Busia Districts, ECO’s interventions are based in Rupa & Katikekile of Moroto District.
Funded by Terre des homes, the project started in 2016 and targets children both boys and girls exploited and at risk of exploitation as domestic workers, young miners and others trafficked into all sorts of illegal actions.
The project target audience that include children and others will be supported with vocational skills training, mentorship, and apprenticeship, linked to government and other existing livelihood programs to start their own enterprises and also access decent work, withdrawn, rehabilitated and reunited with their family members, be counseled on the dangers of trafficking in person and importance of promoting education of children, benefit from legal aid services, be educated on children rights and the dangers of child exploitation, teachers from the selected UPE and USE schools equipped with knowledge and skills to support and facilitate exploited and at risk children to stay in school
Achieving the above, the project will contribute to progressive elimination of the worst forms of child labour and realisation of children rights in Uganda.
