FOOD SECURITY IN KARAMOJA SUB REGION

 

Fostering Sustainability and Resilience for Food Security in Karamoja Sub Region

The project is implemented in 5 parishes of Nabilatuk sub-county and Moruita sub counties of Nabilatuk and Nakapiripirit Districts. The project is focused to supporting capacity enhancement of the community in the selected watershed areas to sustainably utilize the natural resources through regeneration and protection for resilience building and food security. The project is implemented alongside other stakeholders such as Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), District Local Government, FAO and Project Management Unit. To enable achieve the project intended outcome ECO is promoting an inclusive and participatory approach with focus on gender sensitivity in projects’ implementation.

Project objective;

To contribute to enhancing long-term environmental sustainability and resilience of food production system in the Karamoja sub region

The project is also hoped to contribute to strategic objectives 2 and 5 of FAO;

Increase and improve provision of goods and services from agriculture, forestry and fisheries in a sustainable manner;

Increase the resilience of livelihoods to threats and crises.
