Improved Livelihood, Food Security And Nutrition For Agro Pastoral Communities At Risk Of Human Trafficking In Napak And Nabilatuk

Project Objectives

Agro-pastoral communities at risk of human trafficking in Nabilatuk and Napak districts have improved livelihoods, food security and nutrition and are resilient to the effects of climate change.


Summary of Achievements/impact

The project supported 1440 Vulnerable people at risk of human trafficking through community structures including 10 CBOs/strictures, 2 DRR committees, 2 anti-human trafficking task forces and 6 VSLAs by building their capacity to support community members to improve their livelihoods, overseeing the project implementation at household level, identifying, handling and referring cases of human trafficking as well as extending financial support for implementation of income generating activities. The project supported the establishment of nine Agro pastoral farmer field school groups (APFS) who were introduced to APFS approach and supported through trainings season long agricultural calendar trainings sessions on group dynamics, climate smart agricultural practices including cross cutting issues such as gender and gender equality, farming as a business, record keeping across Napak and Nabilatuk.  The project supported 10 VSLAs through backstopping on group dynamics, record keeping including VSLA principles and practices which facilitated smooth operations. The project also supported two district anti-human trafficking committees of Napak and Nabilatuk from the district political and technical officials, sub county leaders, local council leaders, police and teachers (SCREAM clubs’ patrons/matrons). Furthermore, the project formed six DRR committees in project targeted six villages. These committees played important role in community sensitization on DRR including preparedness and climate change mitigation measures in their respective communities including aiding in dissemination of climate seasonal forecasts and early warning information. The project established five SCREAM clubs and these clubs were engaged in community awareness sessions on child/human trafficking through dramas, stories and music leading to improved awareness of child / human trafficking among communities.
